FRAMINGHAM – It was a battle between Framingham High and Natick High boys soccer teams on the Fuller Middle School turf field on Thursday afternoon, September 15.

The Flyers defeated their arch rival Natick’s Redhawks 2-1 in the battle of the Bay State Conference teams.

Senior Shea Callahan scored the game winner in the second half.

Junior forward Ben Dionisio got the Flyers on the board early in the first half on a beautiful assist from fellow junior Ryan Viana, said coach Jon Wood.

Natick tied the score at 1-1 later in the first half on a disappointing scramble in front of the Flyer goal, said Coach Wood.

The Flyers finally scored the game winner late in the second half.

“Senior midfielder Yuri Teixeira gained the end line and crossed the ball to senior forward Shea Callahan who beat the defense and put the ball in the net. The hustle play was exactly what the Flyers had been searching for for most of the game,” said Coach Wood.

Senior defender Diego Miranda and senior captain midfielder Liam Gilbert stood out defensively for the Flyers, said Coach Wood.

The Flyers are now 3-0-1, under head coach Dan Avery.

Framingham hits the Road for its next game. They will travel to Wellesley for a game against the Raiders.
