FRAMINGHAM – Angelina “Angie” (LaPenta) Stefanini , 99 of Framingham, died peacefully on August 25, 2022 at Bethany Health Care Center surrounded by love.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Stefanini who died in 1975.

She is also predeceased by her sister Mary L.  Yesue and her brother, Guy LaPenta both of whom she deeply cherished.

Angie was born in Southbridge, and raised in Framingham, daughter of the late John and Vincenza (D’Alessio) LaPenta.

She has spent the last 97 years as a resident of Framingham after moving here at 2 years old with her mother and sister after her father’s death.

Angie leaves her two very devoted and dearly cherished sons and daughters in law; Joseph Stefanini and his wife Julia and, David Stefanini and his wife Judith with whom she lived for many years.

Angie  was  a loving “Nonnie” to Brianna Stefanini and Evan Stefanini.  She leaves behind her nephews, Albert Yesue and wife Peggy, Robert Yesue and wife Jan, and the late Alfred Yesue and his wife Mary Jane and their families.  Angie is also survived by her dear Stefanini niece and nephews and their families.

Angie was a young entrepreneur having her own business after graduating from high school.

In 1939, she was operating her own small variety store where she met her future husband as he was waiting for a bus.

In the 1950’s after having her 2nd child, she concentrated on raising her family and supporting her husband’s role with Waverly Market.

After her husband’s passing, every day for 47 years, she steadfastly worked alongside her son David having held many roles and making countless contributions to the success of the business.

Until July, she was the face of Waverly Market where she ran the register and loved chatting with many loyal customers who greeted her as “Mama” and who became a valued part of her life.  Over the years, Angie saw many wonderful changes to the market and embraced them all.   Angie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

It was Angie’s request to not have visiting hours, however, all are invited to St. Tarcisius Church, 562 Waverly Street, Framingham on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 10 AM to celebrate her funeral Mass.

Burial will follow at St. Tarcisius Cemetary.
