FRAMINGHAM – In the middle of a heat wave, with temperatures expected to remain in the mid-90s through the weekend, the City of Framingham has closed one of its three beaches due to elevated E coli bacteria.

“The bathing beach at Learned Pond is closed due to an elevated E.coli bacteria count. The water will be re-tested and the waterfront will open once the bacteria is back within acceptable limits. Swimming may cause illness,” posted Parks & Recreation just after 4 p.m. today, July 21.

The beach will be open for sunbathing, while staff is present, while the waterfront is closed, said the City.

The bathing beaches at both Saxonville Beach & Waushakum Beach are not affected by this closure and will remain open to the public said the City.
