WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, July 20, Assistant Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and member of the Appropriations Committee Katherine Clark (MA-5) voted to advance a package of six funding bills that will help families and communities in the Fifth District and across America.
“Today, the House Democrats advanced a package of funding bills that will create green jobs, lower energy costs, expand access to affordable housing and food assistance, invest in veteran health care and military family support services, and so much more,” said Assistant Speaker Clark. “This budget package will make life easier for working families, lower costs, and pave the way for a stronger, more sustainable future for all Americans.”
The package also includes funding for eight local community projects which were selected in collaboration with state and local leaders in the Fifth District.

The projects include:
- Chris Walsh Memorial Trail Project in Framingham: $3 million
- Grow in Revere Food Hub Project: $2 million
- Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham Child Care Facility Project: $3 million
- Mystic River Path Project: $1 million
- Charles River Watershed Association Tree Protection and Planting Project: $115,000
- City of Framingham for the Lake Washaukum Clean Water Project: $1,700,000
- City of Watertown for a Stormwater Tree Trench Project: $240,000
- Carr Park Resilient Community Solar Project: $1,500,000
“Our local leaders know best where federal resources can make a difference on the ground,” said Assistant Speaker Clark. “For the second year in a row, the House has secured funding for local community projects and this package includes eight projects in MA-5. These dollars will build green spaces, improve access to child care, and build climate resiliency – this investment is a game changer for our district.”
This package will secure critical investments in a range of key priorities for Massachusetts communities:
- Creating Good-Paying Jobs by upgrading roads, bridges, public transit, rail, airports, and water infrastructure.
- Combating the Climate Crisis by expanding renewable energy, strengthening local resilience against extreme weather, and spurring new, innovative technology.
- Bolstering Health and Economic Security by investing in federal nutrition programs, small businesses, stronger consumer protection and expanded affordable housing.
- Honoring Our Service Members by investing in VA health care, military housing, child care for military families and mental health services.
- Strengthening Our Nation’s Food Supply by expanding agricultural research and investing in land conservation.
