FRAMINGHAM – City of Framingham Mayor has nominated District 3 resident Joel Winett to serve on the Framingham Cultural Council, again.

Winett served on the Cultural Council for a dozen years, stepping away from the Council in 2021.

During his 12 years on the Framingham Cultural Council, he served one as treasurer, six as clerk, and five as chair.

In 2021, Winett was honored with the first-ever Framingham Cultural Council (FCC) “Lifetime Achievement Award.”

If the Council confirms his nomination, he will become the 9th member to the Cultural Council. His term would expire on June 30, 2025.

Winett also serves on the City’s Ordinance Review and Recodification Committee.

Members are prohibited from serving more than 6 consecutive years on the Council.

There are no members on the Cultural Council from Districts 7, 8, or 9.

The mission of the Framingham Cultural council, a local partner of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, is to promote excellence, access, education and diversity in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences thereby improving the quality of life for all Framingham residents and contributing to the economic vitality of our community.

The Council is responsible for ensuring that MCC and other local Framingham funds are distributed broadly to Framingham’s creative community through grants, awards, scholarships and other forms of public awareness and recognition, and reflect the City’s cultural diversity.
