FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham License Commission approved an all-alcohol license and a common victualer license for a new Brazilian restaurant in Framingham last night, June 13.

Cale Belo Corp would open the restaurant at the former Angry Ham’s location at 2 Beacon Street, just off of Route 9 in Framingham.

The establishment is described as “upscale Brazilian,” with an extensive cocktail and wine list.

The manager would be Louis Costa with his son Matthews Costa as assistant manager.

The owners wanted the hours to be Sunday to Friday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m with Saturday open until 2 a.m., but the police department had objections.

Framingham Police Lt. Thomas McCarthy, who oversees the licensing bureau, suggested an earlier closing time on Saturday.

McCarthy wrote a 2 a.m. closing would be a risk to public safety because Framingham has few public transportation and cab options.

McCarthy also pointed to the previous owners of the property, who had issues, and their establishments were open until 2 a.m.

Both new owners have an extensive experience in the restaurant business.

Framingham License Commissioner Lipton proposed closing hour of 1 a.m. on Saturdays.

The motion passed unanimously.

The establishment said it hoped to open in 4 to 6 weeks.

The establishment can handle about 200 customers inside and about another 40 outside on the patio.

The facility sold in 2016 for $2.3 million, and is owned by Sharma Group, LLC, of Framingham.

Angry Ham’s Bar & Grill opened on the property in 2010. The establishment appears on the TV Show Bar Rescue and received a makeover, but later reverted back to the Angry Ham’s. The place was sold in 2016 and was renamed Beacon Street Bar & Grill, but it still struggled and closed in 2016.

Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa, a full service pet care and resort business with several locations in Massachusetts, wanted to lease the property but the residents at the Framingham Housing Authority objected, and the proposal never got approval.
