FRAMINGHAM – After receiving the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference’s (MASCAC) automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament, the 2022 MASCAC Tournament Champion Framingham State Rams will be facing St. Mary’s (MD) in Ewing, N.J. in a first round game on Saturday, May 14.

The Rams will be making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament after winning their first MASCAC Tournament Title.     

Framingham State finished the 2022 regular season 11-7 overall and 6-1 in MASCAC action.  After earning the second seed in the 2022 MASCAC Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, the Rams led by Tournament MVP Rachel Erickson defeated third seed Worcester State in the semifinals before defeating fourth seed Bridgewater State in the finals this past Saturday.

The 2022 Rams were led on the offensive end of the field by attack Hannah Guerin who tallied 59 goals on the season with 29 assists for 88 points. Tara Palermo and Regan Fein followed for the Rams with 68 and 66 points respectively. Palermo tallied 47 goals on the season with 21 assists and added 58 draw controls. Fein chipped in with 25 goals and 41 assists while adding 55 draw controls and 16 caused turnovers. 

Kathryn Simpson and Erickson paced the Rams with 27 and 20 caused turnovers on the year. Erickson added 35 goals and 13 assists, while Simpson found the back of the net 18 times. Alexis Burleigh played every minute in goals for the Rams and finished the season with 150 saves.

The Seahawks earned the United East’s automatic bid to the tournament after defeating Medaille in the championship game of their conference tournament.

The Seahawks were 12-5 on the year and went 6-0 in league play. 

This will be just the first meeting all-time between Framingham State and St. Mary’s (MD). 

TCNJ will be hosting the three team regional on Saturday and Sunday with the Rams and the Seahawks facing off on Saturday and the winner advancing to face the hosts on Sunday.
