FRAMINGHAM – Volunteers are needed to help honor Veterans by placing American flags at more than 2,000 graves at Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham, in anticipation of Memorial Day.

The Framingham Veterans Services has a goal of placing a flag at every Veterans’ grave in Framingham – more than 5,000 flags at city cemeteries.

Volunteers are needed on Saturday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at historic Edgell Grove Cemetery, which has rolling hills and the most Veterans graves of the City cemeteries.

Rain date is Saturday, May 28. at 10 a.m.

Memorial Day is Monday, May 30.

The City is planning a Memorial day ceremony and will release details soon.

The first Memorial Day in 1868 was called Decoration Day, a time for people to decorate the graves of the soldiers who fought for the North and South in the Civil War
