FRAMINGHAM – Mary Ellen Hewitt, 63, a long time Framingham resident, passed suddenly and way too soon on Monday April 25, 2022.

Born in Boston, Mary Ellen was the daughter of Mary (O’Toole) and Francis M. Keeley of Arlington.

Mary Ellen was a graduate of Arlington Catholic High School and graduated from Regis College with honors in 1980.

She worked in the actuarial field before devoting herself to raising her two children, Sara and Steven, both of Framingham.

Mary Ellen was deeply involved in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts and was co-leader of Framingham Girl Scout troop 2152. She enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite trips was the time she brought her Girl Scouts to visit Washington, DC.

She loved word play, numbers, and music. She played several instruments. In 1975, as part of the St. Agnes Senior Band, Mary Ellen played on the field during the World Series at Fenway Park.  She loved the Red Sox and was a big fan of David Ortiz as well as Tom Brady, and the music of Billy Joel. She loved birds, animals and was totally devoted to her canine children, rescue dogs Yawkey and Leia. Libby, her loyal boxer, was her favorite. She was a frequent blood donor as well as an organ donor.

She is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 39 years, Mark, her children Sara and Steven, siblings Frank Keeley and Anya Farion, David and Debbie Keeley, Paul and Maureen Keeley, Margaret and Dan Hayward, Kathleen Keeley, in-laws, cousins, and many nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen was predeceased by her sister Patricia Adams.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mary Ellen’s life by gathering for a celebration of her life at the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service to start at noon.

Interment will be private.
