FRAMINGHAM — The Framingham Garden Club plant sale is back after a two-year hiatus in its 30-year tradition of offering unique native and other locally grown plants.

The sale takes place Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Cushing Maintenance Building at Cushing Memorial Park.

Garden Club members have been busy cultivating their gardens, dividing their best growers and preparing plants for the sale.

Proceeds benefit the club’s scholarship program for high school students from Framingham who plan to major in a science field in college and its other community programs.

Marie Giorgetti, Shannon Fitzpatrick and Aparna Kumar, members of the Framingham Garden Club, dig in the garden at Fitzpatrick's home.

“Our sale is an opportunity to shop for plants already acclimated to local growing conditions, including many native plants,” said Aparna Kumar, the Garden Club’s co-chair. “We’ll also offer flowering hanging plants, petunias, and marigolds.”

The sale also includes a boutique, featuring gift items for Mother’s Day and other occasions. They include “teacup” floral arrangements designed by members, mini succulent gardens, floral photo cards, bird baths, and decoupage pots.
