Photos: Framingham High Holds Double Induction Ceremony For National Honor Society

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham High School held a double induction ceremony for national Honor Society on April 7.

There was a ceremony for junior and one for seniors, as no ceremony was held in 2020 or 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“This was our first in person ceremony in 2 years and everyone was so excited,” said Framingham High national Honor Society advisor Susan Corcoran.

There are now 251 member in the Society at Framingham High.

“Ayesha Siddiqui received the senior service award for her exemplary and numerous service hours that she devoted to teaching the Quran to the youth in her mosque.  She had over 100 hours last year and already has well over 100 this year.  Her commitment to her community is truly exceptional,” said Corcoran.

“For the past two years students had to really think out of the box to try and help their communities.  Our group now has monthly meetings with guest speakers that touch upon topics like happiness, mindfulness, social justice, the environment, and internships. Our students sewed masks, picked up trash in their neighborhoods, tutored through zoom, wrote letters to the elderly, and made weekly calls to their elderly buddy in a nursing home in Framingham.  These students were resilient and we are grateful that they can help out in the community,” said Corcoran.

“We are working to bring back all the programs that we have been used to running for over a decade.  We were so fortunate to be able to bring the Holiday Drive back to FHS this year.  We helped over 100 children in the Framingham Public Schools with giving them gifts of toys and clothing.  Their families got a frozen turkey and canned goods,” said Corcoran.
