ASHLAND – An Ashland Middle School student brought a knife to school in their backpack yesterday, April 13.

Ashland Middle School Assistant principal Michael Morro in an email to families said the “administration became aware that a student possessed a knife in their backpack” today.

“This incident was investigated and the Ashland Police were notified immediately. The police department confirmed that there was no threat at any time toward the school community,” wrote the Assistant Principal.

“We are proud of the students and school community for reporting this appropriately and in a timely fashion.  The student is receiving appropriate intervention and supports,” wrote the school administration.

The district has a no weapons policy.
