FRAMINGHAM – Business owners have been complaining about individuals sleeping inside their buildings overnight and trespassing for more than a year.

One of the largest business owners complained in a very public way to the former Mayor Yvonne Spicer and the Framingham City Council last year about the issue.

Yesterday, April 6 Framingham Police arrested three individuals on “trespassing charges;’ after finding them sleeping inside downtown buildings.

“We do consistent checks of these buildings due to complaints regarding people trespassing in the building,” said Framingham Police Lt. Rachel Mickens.

Framingham Police observed two individuals sleeping inside 129 Concord Street and one individual was found sleeping inside 24 Union Avenue, said Lt. Mickens.

At 5:38 a.m., police found Rose Goguen, 50, with no known address sleeping inside the Union Avenue address. She was arrested and charged with trespassing.

Just after 6:30 a.m. police found Shelia V. Salazar, 22, with no known address and Terrance Bryant, 32, with no known address sleeping inside the Concord Street address.

“When we encounter people, we try to determine if they are in need of services.  If the need is immediate then we can address it at the time, or we can refer them to the HUB for more permanent solutions, including housing,” said Lt. Mickens to SOURCE.

The Framingham HUB, run by the Behavioral Health Partners of MetroWest, connects those in need of, housing, food, and mental health help, to services that get them on their feet.

Framingham Deputy Police Chief Sean D. Riley, a member of the HUB Steering Committee, said clients are either homeless or struggling with substance abuse and mental health and “have gotten to the end of the rope and need serious intervention.”
