FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Fire Department held its first public promotion ceremony since the pandemic on Wednesday morning, March 16.

During the ceremony at Nevins Hall in the Memorial Building, two firefighters were promoted to lieutenants.

The small ceremony, featured the City Clerk Lisa Ferguson, Mayor Charlie Sisitsky, Fire Chief Michael Dutcher, and Assistant Fire Chief John Schultz, who was the master of ceremonies. At-large City Council Janet Leombruno also attended.

Promoted were Lt. Henry Funes and Lt. Brian Blue.

Funes began his career with Framingham on August 18, 2022. He spent the majority of his career assigned to station 1 on Route 9 on group 1 and Tower 1.

Lt. Funes has been a dispatcher and frequently volunteers his time to the Framingham Fire Honor Guard.

He is now assigned to Engine 3 at Framingham Fire headquarters.

He was pinned at the ceremony by his wife.

Lt. Brian Blue is a former Framingham police officer. He joined the Framingham Fire Department on June 20, 2016. Lt Blue has worked at station 5 on Concord Street for four years. For the last two years he was assigned to Engine 2 at Station 2 in Saxonville.

Lt. Blue will be assigned to the training division and will work days as the department’s EMS officer.
