CLINTON,NEW YORK – Josef Komissar, of Ashland was recently elected to the Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at Hamilton College.

Phi Beta Kappa, which established a chapter at Hamilton in 1869, is the oldest and most prestigious honor society in the country. Students are elected to membership in recognition of their exceptional academic achievement in fulfilling the goals and purposes of the college.

Komissar, a senior majoring in computer science and mathematics, is a graduate of Ashland High School.

Originally founded in 1793 as the Hamilton-Oneida Academy, Hamilton College offers an open curriculum that gives students the freedom to shape their own liberal arts education within a research- and writing-intensive framework. Hamilton enrolls 2,000 students from 49 states and 46 countries.
