NATICK – The Amazon store in the Natick Mall will be closing this spring, possibly as early as the end of this month.

Amazon announced today,March 2, it is shutting down all its Pop Up stores, 4-star stores and physical book stores.

The closures impacts 68 stores across the U.S. and U.K., Amazon Said.

Closure dates will vary by location, said the companuy.

Amazon will help impacted employees find roles elsewhere within the company. Workers who opt not to stay with the company will be given severance, Amazon said.

The company said it will focus on its Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market grocery chains.

In 2017, Amazon acquired the upscale supermarket chain Whole Foods for more than $13 billion. There is a Whole Foods on Route 9 in Framingham.

And while Amazon corporate refuses to confirm it, the new grocery store in Shoppers World will be an Amazon Fresh, per multiple sources.

We’ve taken our decades of operations experience to deliver consistently low prices for all and FREE, same-day delivery for Prime members. We’ve also introduced new ways to make grocery shopping more convenient, including the Amazon Dash Cart, which enables customers to skip the checkout line, and new Alexa features to help customers manage their shopping lists and better navigate our aisles,” according to Amazon’s FAQ on the concept.
