FRAMINGHAM – Mary Janet Baldasaro passed away on January 12, 2022 after a brief illness.
She was 94. Mary Janet Hill (“Janet”) was born in Everett, Massachusetts.
She was adopted by Mary Josephine Madden and William Richard Hill.
Mary sadly passed unexpectedly a short time later. William later remarried to Marguerite Sullivan.
Janet grew up in Framingham. Janet graduated from Framingham High School and became a medical lab technician, working on the Framingham Heart Study.
In 1958, she relocated to California for work, and later married William Ronald Baldasaro (from Newton, Massachusetts). They were married for 48 years, living first in Oakland and Hayward before settling in Dublin to raise their daughter Jill. Jan was a stay at home mom, later working part time in Advertising for the Tri-Valley Herald, and volunteering with the Foothill High School Band Boosters.
Jan was a lifelong animal lover, caring for many pets, including her beloved huskies, Sasha and Kodi, and yellow lab Nikki, who were well known in the neighborhood as they played in the front yard while Jan and Bill sat in the open garage and visited with neighbors. Jan was an avid reader, and enjoyed crafts, gardening, playing cards, games and puzzles. She enjoyed Tetris and crosswords into her 90’s.
In 2000, Jan was reunited with her daughter Mary Ann Berlin of Boulder, Colorado, who melded into our family as though she had always been there. Mom will be remembered for her loving personality and beautiful smile, her love for everything chocolate and her secret to longevity of enjoying a vodka and tonic every day.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband Bill, and is survived by her daughters Jill Kellogg (Al) and Mary Ann Enstad, grandchildren Logan Kellogg, Elizabeth and Nick Berlin, and great granddaughter Henley Berlin, as well as her goddaughter Nancy Conboy, daughter of Mom’s closest friend and late cousin Eileen Leacu. She was a loving wife, mother, ‘Nana’, godmother and great-grandmother, and will live in our hearts forever.
As a child given up at birth, her lifelong wish to know her origins was fulfilled when Ancestry DNA research a few years ago identified her ethnicity as French Canadian and her biological parents as Mary Yvonne Breault of Lowell, and Burton Stanley Griffin of Gloucester.
May she rest in peace with all her family in heaven. Services will be held on April 5 at 11 a.m. at St Joan of Arc Catholic church in San Ramon, California, with reception following, and inurnment at St Michael’s cemetery in Livermore.
Donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
Je t’aime ma mere! Bonsoir ma mere! Jill Kellogg, Mary Ann Enstad and family.
