FRAMINGHAM – The 7-member Framingham Agricultural Advisory Committee has three vacancies.

The Committee, which had not met since July 9, 2018, held its first meeting in three years in October 2021 and elected Natasha Rausch its new chair.

“Agricultural Advisory Committee was established to serve as the primary advocate for farming and agriculture in Framingham. The committee is charged with the administration of the City’s Right-to-Farm bylaw but does not have any regulatory / enforcement powers,” according to the City.

Members of the Committee are volunteers and unpaid.

The Committee is charged with being a “a local voice advocating for farmers, farm-related businesses, and agricultural interests in general.”

The Committee also:

  • Provides visibility for farming in Framingham.
  • Works with other city departments/boards/commissions/committees on issues facing the town that affect agriculture.
  • Helps resolve farm-related problems and/or conflicts.
  • Protects farmlands and natural resource

The Mayor appoints members to the Committee, and the City’s legislative branch – City Council – approves or rejects the nominations by a simple majority vote.

Individuals interested in serving on the 7-member Committee should contact Mayor Charlie Sisitsky’s office or apply online at https://www.framinghamma.gov/serve
