FRAMINGHAM – Philip Ray, 81 passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 15, 2022.

Born in Framingham, to the late John and Signe E (Johnson) Ray. He was a life-long resident of Framingham. 

Phil graduated from Framingham High School in 1958.

After graduation he joined the Air Force where, after basic training and Air Police training, he served for 4 years with the Strategic Air Command at bases in Maine, New Hampshire, and Greenland.

After the service he joined the International Union of Elevator Constructors. Most of his 40 years in the trade was spent as a service technician in the MetroWest area. Phil enjoyed gardening, fishing, and woodworking where he made many unique items for family and friends. His grandchildren were his greatest joy. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra (Mori) Ray; his son, Michael Ray and his wife Caroline of Framingham, daughter Paula Cirrone and her husband Philip of Natick, daughter Susan Smith and her husband David of Marlborough; and two grandchildren, Gina Ray of Waltham, and Matthew Ray of Upton; his brother, J. Theodore Ray and his wife Sandra of Chepachet, RI, his sister, Carol Hoefel and her husband Carl of Mendon; and many nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID concerns, there will be no services. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. 

Funeral services have been entrusted to Norton Funeral Home.
