FRAMINGHAM – A motorist struck a mother and child crossing Concord Street, while in the crosswalk, Tuesday night, January 4 in Framingham.

The incident happened at 7:03 p.m. at 82 Concord Street near the downtown Framingham common.

“A parent was crossing the street with their 7 year old boy in the crosswalk.  A vehicle heading northbound struck the child,’ said Framingham Police spokesperson Lt. Rachel Mickens.

“The child was transported to UMass Worcester with non-life-threatening injuries,’ said Lt. Mickens.

The driver, a Framingham woman in her 50s, remained on scene, said first responders.

A citation was issued, said Lt. Mickens.

Massachusetts General Law gives pedestrians the right-of-way at any marked crosswalk that does not have traffic control signals. Failing to stop and yield to pedestrians in these areas could result in a traffic infraction and fine. Passing a vehicle that has stopped to yield to pedestrians at a crosswalk comes with a fine of up to $200

This was the second pedestrian struck in a crosswalk in as many days.

On Monday, a man, in his 60s, was struck while crossing Warren Road while in the crosswalk.
