HOPKINTON – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing it will be implementing a full closure of the Fruit Street Bridge, which carries traffic over the MBTA/CSX Railroad and the Sudbury River in Westborough and Hopkinton.
The bridge closure is scheduled to occur from 9 p.m. on Friday, November 12, to 5 a.m. on Saturday, November 13.
The bridge is structurally deficient and there is an $11 million project to replace it.
During the work, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage in place that includes Route 9 and Route 135 for access.

The overnight bridge closure will allow for the installation of a temporary utility bridge required as part of the $12.5 million bridge replacement project now underway.
Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
