ASHLAND – Yvonne “Mitz” (Ives) Blaich, 95, of Holliston formerly of Ashland passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021, after a period of declining health.

Born in Buffalo, NY; she was the daughter of the late James and Edythe (Pontlitz) Ives and wife of the late Rudolph C. Blaich who died in 2004.

She fondly recalled telling stories of growing up in Buffalo and how she met the love of her life, “Rudy” Blaich.  Throughout her life she cheered for the Buffalo Bills.  Mitz attended the University of Buffalo and received a degree in Pharmacy.

Mitz and Rudy made their early home in Worcester, and in 1962 they moved into their dream home they had built on Edgewood Drive in Ashland.  In that home they welcomed a number of Cocker Spaniels who enriched their lives and Mitz was often found walking her dogs in the Ashland State Park.  They enjoyed traveling and exploring in New England.  Mitz and Rudy loved to go antiquing and their home was filled with the treasures they found on their excursions.  Mitz was especially proud of the many unique chocolate molds that decorated her kitchen wall and other areas in her home.

Mitz is survived by her niece, Priscilla Faille and her husband Robert of Windsor, NJ and her nephew Larry Mason Blaich and his wife Judee of Mesa, AZ.  In addition, she will be greatly missed by many friends who have fond memories of the times they spent with Mitz.

A funeral service will be held Thursday Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland with burial to follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham.

One visiting hour will be held Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity.
