FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High girls soccer team defeated Braintree High 3-0 yesterday, October 30.

The first goal came off a penalty shot taken by Kasey Kopaz. She scored with 15 minutes left in the game. Her shot was hard and low hitting the back of the net before the goalie had a chance to even come off her line.

The Flyers second goal came just minutes later.

Braintree took a direct kick about 10 yards from the top right side of the box launching a shot high to the far post where Lilly Vermilya leaped and punched the ball way outside the box.

Natalie Kirkpatrick gained possession and drove forward making a beautiful long pass to Kylie Chagnon who was waiting at the 50-yard line. Chagnon ran down the right side of the field with a defender on her tail and then lifted her shot to the top triangle of the net.

Just minutes before the clock struck the 80th minute, Brooke Haarala volleyed a shot into the back of the net grabbing a ball that bounced off the defender trying to control the long bomb sent in from Paige Spodick.

Framingham is now 9-5-3 this season.

The last regular season game is Sunday, October 31 at 1 p.m. at Bowditch Field, where the seniors on the squad will be honored.
