FRAMINGHAM – The Worcester State University women’s soccer team defeated Framingham State by a score of 1-0 in MASCAC action Saturday afternoon at John F. Coughlin Field in Worcester.

Worcester State improved to 7-6-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the Conference.  

Framingham State falls to 5-10-1 overall and 3-3 in the Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • After a scoreless first half that saw the Lancers outshoot the Rams 14-to-0 the Lancers broke through in the 64th minute when Ali Maldonado finished off a pass from Megan Gurlitz who was set up by Leah Fitzgerald. 
  • Jetta Oskirko took the tough luck loss despite making 11 saves in net for the Rams.  
  • Ashley Spellman earned her 7th win of the season making one save on her only chance in the win for the Lancers.

  • Abbie Kurtzer (pictured) registered the lone shot on net for the Rams.  
  • Ali Maldonado led the offensive attack for the Lancers registering eight shots with five being on net.  
  • The hosts Lancers outshot the Rams 27-to-2 in the contest. 

UP NEXT:  The Rams return to the field on Thursday when they host Fisher College in non-conference action at 4:30 p.m.
