FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High girls swim and dive team won nine of the 12 events to win its season opener against Walpole High School Friday afternoon, September 10 at the Keefe Technical High School pool.

The Flyers won 94 to 86.

The team is now 1-0 under head coach Mike Foley. The meet was both the home and season opener.

Diving opened the meet with Walpole’s Maggie Singer winning the event with 177.01 points.

Framingham’s trio of divers placed second-third-fourth in the event. Sophomore Kat Barry was second with 148 points, senior Rachel Olson was second with 143 points and sophomore Emily Richardson was third with 138 points.

After one event, Framingham had a 9-7 lead in the meet.

The swimming kicked off with the 200-yard medley relay. Framingham swimmers Megan DiPasquale, Laura Dube, Trinity Trainor and Emma Angelo won the event.

Walpole took second in 2:07.23 minutes and Framingham swimmers Paige Palma, Bella Bowen, Marie Scanlon, and Laurel Lacasse took third place in 2:16.88 minutes.

Framingham sophomore Ashwina Bangari won her first of two individual events in the 200-yard freestyle. Walpole’s Grace O’Malley finished second in 2:17.60 minutes and sophomore Bowen took third for the Flyers. Framingham senior Sophia Tesorero earned a point for the Flyers capturing fifth place.

Senior Laura Dube won her first of two events in the 200-yard individual medley. Framingham freshman Sasha Tsizer took second for the Flyers. Framingham sophomore Tija Dilba finished fourth for Framingham in 2:49.7 minutes.

Framingham senior Trainor won the sprint event for the Flyers. Sophomore Norah Pham took third and Angelo fifth for Framingham.

Walpole Lily Nguyen won the 100-yard butterfly for the Timberwolves in 1:05.90 minutes. Pham finished second for Framingham with DiPasquale third for the Flyers.

Framingham’s Bangari won the 100-yard freestyle event to go with her victory in the 200-yard freestyle. Trainor finished second for Framingham with Junior Angelo taking fourth place in 1:03.34 minutes.

Walpole finished 1-2 in the distance event of the meet. Isabelle Graham won the event in 6:23.94 minutes with Meghan Doucett second in 6;31.18 minutes.

Framingham finished third-fourth-fifth in the 500-yard freestyle event.

Sophomore Bowen was third, senior Tesorero was fourth and junior Jordan Summerfield was fifth in 6:42.82 minutes.

The Flyers won the sprint relay with swimmers Bangari, Trainor, Angelo and Bowen.

Framingham senior DiPasquale won the backstroke event. Sophomore Dilba finished fourth for Framingham.

Dube won the breaststrokeevent for Framingham with Bowen and Scanlon finishing fourth and fifth.

The Flyers won the final event of the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Next up for the Flyers is an away meet against the Tigers of Newton North High School at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14.
