FRAMINGHAM – The Keefe Technical High School varsity golf team will open its season today, September 10.

The 8-member varsity squad will be led by senior captain Ryan Fangel.

“Ryan won the individual CAL championship as a sophomore in 2919 with a 77, 5 over par,” said Head Coach Bart van Luling. “Now, as a senior leader, Ryan is always positive, hard-working, and looking to help the team’s younger players in any way he can.”

There are three seniors on the varsity golf team for the Broncos – Fangel, Ben Bradway, and Cooper Gordon.

Of the 8 golfers on varsity, three have varsity experience, said the head coach.

“We are certainly hoping to have a winning season, and see Fangel win another CAL championship. But we are also working to build up a strong program after a season away from the golf course (due to the coronavirus pandemic),” said the head coach.

“We have some young and promising players who we are looking forward to seeing strengthen their skills this season,” said Coach van Luling.

The Broncos first match of the season is today, Sept 10, at Southborough Golf Club versus AMSA/Advanced Math and Science Academy.

The final match is Tuesday, Oct 12 at Southborough Golf Club versus Blackstone Valley Tech followed by the CAL Championship on Thursday, October 14.

“Our toughest competitors this year will be AMSA who we will play twice, both matches at Southborough Golf Club,” said the head coach.
