BRISTOL RHODE ISLAND – The Framingham State women’s soccer team lost its season opener against Roger Williams University by a score of 3-0 on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in Bristol, RI.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Roger Williams junior Bianca Robbins opened up the scoring in the 2021 season with an unassisted goal in the sixth minute of play.
  • The Hawks added to their first half lead after Robbins sent another tally home with a helper from freshman Rachel Oster.
  • The hosts closed rounded out the 3-0 win with a Leah Yucius goal in the 56th minute with help from Jordan Powers.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Sami Brady and Morgan McCutcheon split the shutout in net for Roger Williams.
  • Freshman Jetta Oskirko made eight saves in her first college start in net for the Rams.
  • The Hawks outshot the Rams by a 19-to-6 margin while both teams earned three corner kicks.

Up next the Rams will travel to Suffolk University for a non-conference matchup on Saturday, September 4 starting at noon.
