FRAMINGHAM – Mass State Police arrested a Framingham man on drug and firearm charges.

On Wednesday, August 4, just before 3:30 a.m. Trooper John Jakobowski, assigned to the State Police-Tunnels Barracks located in South Boston, was stopped observing traffic at the intersection of Frontage Road and West Fourth Street.

There, Trooper Jakobowski watched a 2003 Cadillac sedan travelling at a high rate of speed, continue through multiple red lights without slowing.

Trooper Jakobowski pulled behind the sedan and followed it onto Route 93 Northbound. Trooper Jakobowski followed the vehicle into the Tip O’Neill Tunnel and observed the vehicle was travelling over 80 miles per hour, had a tail light out, and was unable to keep it’s lane of travel.

At the first safe opportunity, Trooper Jakobowski activated his blue lights and stopped the sedan. Trooper Jakobowski then confirmed the operator was the owner of the vehicle, Travis White, 30, of Framingham whose license was suspended for a prior OUI offence.

Trooper Jakobowski placed White under arrest and seated him in the rear of his cruiser. Then, Trooper Jakobowski was assisted by Troopers Brian McCarthy, Gilbert Skerrit, and Matthew Clark. Troopers began an inventory of the vehicle in preparation for a tow arriving for the vehicle.

While doing so, Trooper McCarthy found a backpack containing three pill bottles holding individual baggies containing cocaine totaling 33 grams, a pill organizer with 57 pressed ecstasy pills, a scale covered in white residue, and a container of the common cutting agent inositol.

With the discovery of a large quantity of illicit drugs, Trooper Jakobowski requested a K9 Unit to initiate a search of the vehicle.

Shortly after, Trooper Michael Murphy arrived on scene and began a search of the vehicle with his canine partner. The pair was able to locate in the trunk of the sedan, a loaded 9mm handgun, a high capacity magazine, 17 rounds of ammunition, and a second scale with white powder residue. White does not possess a license to carry a firearm.

The firearm found was discovered to have a defaced serial number. In the place of the serial number the firearm was etched with a misspelled colloquialism for anti-police sentiments, and an illustration of an offensive gesture.

White was transported to the State Police-Tunnels Barracks and booked.
