FRAMINGHAM – Virginia M. (Tardo) Cochran of Marshfield, a long-time resident of Framingham, passed away on July 14, 2021 at the age of 81.
Beloved wife of Edward Cochran of Marshfield; loving mother of Edward Cochran and his wife Sarah of Marshfield, Virginia Callahan and her husband Greggory of Marshfield, and the late Mariellen Cochran; cherished grandmother of Hannah, Nathaniel, Padraig, Nolan, Brendan, Declan, and Piper; dear sister of Claudia Sommers of Rockland, Dennis Tardo of Marshfield, and the late Ralph and Peter Tardo.
Virginia was a loving and devoted wife, mother and Nonni. Ginnie, as she was affectionately known, was born and raised in South Boston.
She attended Gate of Heaven High School prior to attending Regis College. Upon graduation Virginia became a teacher in Taunton as a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
After 11 years serving the Lord, Ginnie met Ed on a blind date and the real love story began. Soon after tying the knot they began family life, lovingly raising their three children in the Nobscot neighborhood of Framingham.
During that time Virginia’s friendly face could be found serving customers at both the local cleaners and as a CVS Pharmacy Technician.
Ginnie and Ed transplanted from Framingham to Marshfield in 2012 in order to spend more time with their grandchildren. Ginnie also loved living on beach time. She savored the wind in her hair and the warmth of the sun on her face – she was a sun goddess! Above all else she loved spending time with her family – she never wanted to miss out on a good time! In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking homemade Italian food from scratch with her grandchildren, both in person and via Zoom. Even though she was an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan her favorite sports to watch were those in which her children and grandchildren were participating. Nonni was a fierce Yahtzee player herself and never said no to a game, probably because she would win every time.
She will be deeply missed but her legacy and love for life will live on in everyone who knew her.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from noon to 3 p.m.. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church, 40 Canal Street in Marshfield.
Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Framingham.
