FRAMINGHAM – Joann N. (Bruno) Ratta, 49, a longtime resident of Framingham peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021, following a long battle with glioblastoma.

Joann was born in Newton, and graduated from Tri County Regional vocational tech in Franklin and later Dean Junior College. Soon after she began working at a hair salon in Medfield.

Her life changed when her brother brought home his friend in 1987, at the time no one could have guessed that she had just met her future husband.

By 1992, Joann was dating Saverio Ratta, and they married in 1994. Starting out in Newton, and eventually settling in Framingham where they would raise their two boys.

Joann worked in the rectory at St. Bridget’s Church, and she also volunteered as an assistant to the CCD program.

She volunteered her time in so many ways at Keefe Tech, little league, and was always helping in one way or another particularly when the cause helped children.

Most recently she was working at Branches in Framingham.

Joann’s love of the holiday’s was unmatched and she made sure that everyone in the family loved them too. She was an avid cook and there wasn’t a recipe or dessert that she wouldn’t attempt. Any event worth a cookout, Joann found it!

Besides the love of her life, Saverio, Joann is survived by her sons, Joseph N. and Anthony B. of Framingham, her parents, Nunzio and Maria Laura Bruno, her brother, Louis Bruno & his wife Kelly, her mother and father in law, Salvatore and Francesca Ratta, her sister in law, Marianna Ratta Silva and her husband Juan, her nephew, Mathew Bruno, and her nieces, Alessandra Briggs, and Karissa Briggs her God daughter, Natalia Monti, and her aunts, uncles and cousins here in the US and in Italy.

Family and friends will honor and remember Joann’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Friday, May 28 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Proper mask wearing and social distancing etiquette will be followed. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning in St. Bridget’s Church, 830 Worcester Rd., Framingham at 10 o’clock. Her mass will be livestreamed.  

Entombment will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery.
