FRAMINGHAM – Sister M. Patricia of the Queen of Carmel, O.Carm., 84, passed into eternal life on Sunday, May 9, 2021 in her 65th year of religious life.

Born Ann Marie Markey in New York City on June 13, 1936, she was the daughter of Irish immigrants, the late Patrick & Ellen (McKenna) Markey.

Sister Patricia entered Carmel on February 2, 1956, professed her first vows on September 30, 1957, and her final vows on December 8, 1962. She had extensive training in the field of nursing, including a Master’s degree, and was the only Sister in the Congregation to ever reach the level of Nurse Practitioner.

She served on the Commission of Cause and Canonization of Mother M. Angeline Teresa, and was a great promoter of vocations to Carmel.  Her most recent Missions were in New York, Chicago, and Framingham.

Besides her Sisters in Carmel, Sr. Patricia is survived by several cousins.

Considering the current health restrictions, family and friends will honor and remember Sr. Patricia’s life with a private funeral mass and interment.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Sr. Patricia’s name to: Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, 863 Central St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Arrangements by the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home of Framingham. For online tributes or to share a memory with her family, kindly visit www.mccarthyfh.com
