MARLBOROUGH – Raymond C. “Ray” Henning, 87, of Marlborough died Thursday April 15, 2021 at home. 

He was the devoted husband of the late Marie B. “June” (McGuirl) Henning who died in 2011.

He was born and raised in Hoboken, NJ the son of the late Walter and Veronica M. (Vesey) Henning.

He was a 1951 graduate of St. Michael’s High School and attended Jersey City State College and Framingham State College.

He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Ray was a high school  substitute teacher at both Marlborough and Hudson High Schools.

He and his wife, June, owned and operated Quality Moving & Storage in Framingham.

Ray, a wonderful singer, was a member of the Sudbury Players, Marlborough Senior Strutters and New Horizons Chorus.

He loved sports, he was a standout catcher and football safety throughout his high school years, he played football for the Army in Korea, and loved playing softball and football for many years.  

He leaves three beloved daughters, Patricia M. Turner and her husband Stephen of Marlborough, Susan Glynn and her husband Thomas of Marblehead, and June-Rae M. Jewell of Framingham; eight grandchildren, James, Kayleigh, Victoria, Emma, Sean, Tage, Tyler and Ava; three great grandchildren, Autumn, Willow and Bruce; cherished nephews, nieces, cousins and lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his siblings Henry, John, Joan and Edward. 

A Celebration of an Extraordinary Life will take place on August 8, at 1p.m., at the Marlboro Fish and Game Assoc, 1 Muddy Lane, Marlborough

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity Ray supported for much of his life, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
