AMHERST – The Commonwealth’s largest university is prohibiting visitors on campus and announced a “high risk” for COVID-19 today, February 7.

The announcement, which came this afternoon, comes after 239 students tested positive for COVID since the month began.

The high risk will stay in effective for 14 days.

All athletics has been halted for 2 weeks, as well.

On Friday, UMass Amherst banned all student gatherings. The University also banned in-person dinning.

Between Feb 1-3, test results had 239 new positive cases of the virus on campus.

Students were remote for fall semester, but on campus for this spring semester.
