MILFORD – Russell Arthur Simm, 67, of Milford, passed away on February 1, 2021 at the Care Dimensions Hospice Center in Lincoln, after more than five years of living with colon cancer. He met life always with strength, humor and affection for those around him.
For 35 years he was the loving husband of Phyllis. Russ continued to feel her spirit with him in their home, providing him comfort after her death in March of 2020. Russ leaves behind his stepdaughters, Kim Bonadio and her husband, Michael of Waltham, and Deborah Freeman of Pocasset. He also leaves his mother, Evelyn Simm, of Framingham, and his siblings and their spouses Virginia and Thomas Baer of Holliston, Lawrence and Marilyn Simm of Jackman, ME, Shirley Simm of Killingsworth, CT, and Gale and Michael Batsimm of Burlington, VT. He will dearly miss his grandchildren Michael, Brendan, Jesse, Chelsea, Lindsey, Brittany, and Emiley, as well as 9 great grandchildren and his many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Frederick J. Simm, and his stepson Robert (Bobby) Blomberg.
Family and friends will remember Russ as a kind, humble and gentle soul who touched many lives. He had a special knack of remembering the birthdays and anniversaries of others, sometimes even reminding them, which may have saved a relationship or two throughout the years. Russ cared deeply about others and built and maintained friendships with everyone he met. Russ had a passion for cars and motorcycles. His recent purchase, an Audi Q7, brought him great joy in his last months.
Russ graduated from Natick High School in 1972 and took college classes to advance his skills in facilities management at Quinsigamond Community College, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Northeastern University.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1978, earning a rank of E-5 Tech/Platoon Sergeant.
He worked until retirement in HVAC maintenance and facilities management at several companies, including Digital Equipment Corporation and Affiliated Building Services.
Services to celebrate Russ’ life will be held when it is safe to do so.
Donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com.
