FRAMINGHAM – Alice Canning, 80, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died peacefully in Hyannis after battling a long illness.

Kind and caring, Alice was a star basketball player for Framingham High School and a bowling champion in her adult life.

She was a retiree of TJX Companies Inc. and loved being on the Cape with her besties Laurie and Lola, and adored her late dog Buffy.

Alice is survived by her sister, Joan Curley and her husband Mike Curley of Wall, NJ, her sister in law, Laurie Canning of West Dennis, her nephews Jeffrey Canning of Framingham, James Canning & his wife Brenda Canning of Bellingham, and her niece Dr. Susan Curley Point Pleasant, NJ. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles & Mary (McManus) Canning, her sister Rosemary Canning, her brother, James Canning, and her nephews John Canning and Christopher Curley.

Family and friends will honor and remember Alice’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Friday morning, January 8 from 8:30 – 9:30.

Her Funeral Mass will follow in St. Stephen Church, 251 Concord St. Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow.
