HOLLISTON – William (Bill) Stickney, 88 of Holliston, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 41 years, Sylvia (Cooney) Stickney, his daughter Susan McSweeney Campbell, her husband Thomas Campbell and their son, Bill’s grandson, Derek. He is also survived by five children from a previous marriage and many treasured nieces and nephews as well as countless friends in Holliston and beyond.

Bill retired from the New England Telephone Company at the young age of 52.

From there he had great fun in the world of antiques, helping out a local auctioneer and establishing his own business, The Yankee Picker in Holliston.  He and his buddy, Sylvia enjoyed doing antique shows, as many as 20 a year, in their younger days.  All travel to Maine or New Hampshire shows were planned around the next good meal!

Bill was active in many aspects of town including HCAT, Holliston Historical Society, Celebrate Holliston and the Holliston Pantry Shelf. He thoroughly enjoyed riding his tractor in the town parades!

Bill served as an officer in the Army. He had the honor of being the first recipient of the Holliston American Legion “Unsung Citizen” Award.

Bill will be remembered as a kind, modest man who knew something about everything. His giving nature and sense of humor will be sorely missed.

Services will be private and are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com.

Those who are interested can make a donation in Bill’s name to the Holliston Pantry Shelf or the American Cancer Society.
