FRAMINGHAM – After 9 consecutive weeks as a red or high-risk community for the coronavirus, the state has downgraded the City of Framingham to a yellow community, under its new metrics.

Last week, more than 120 communities out of 351 in the Commonwealth were a red community. Framingham had been a red community since the last week in August.

But this week, under the new metrics there are only 16 red communities, and Framingham is not one of them.

But now for the bad news, despite Framingham downgraded to yellow, it’s coronavirus number jumped significantly.

Last week, Framingham was a red community at 11.6 cases per day per 100,000 over a 14 day period.

Today, the state has the City of Framingham at 15.6 cases per day per 100,000 over a 14-day period.

And the City’s positivity rate has also increased from 2.17% last week to 2.42% this week.

Framingham reported 45 new cases of the virus today, Friday, since Wednesday
