TEWKSBURY – Local businesses and community groups are needed for a popular fall community drive to help thousands of adults, children and infants who will go without a warm winter coat this winter. With COVID-19 stretching discretionary income thinner than ever before,

Caring Partners Inc. needs 1000 partners – businesses, nonprofits or even informal neighborhood/community groups – to continue the work of the organization and collect and distribute the 50,000 coats needed each year for Coats for Kids, New England’s largest coat drive.

To sign up, simply visit antons.com/cfk and click “register today”. Coats for Kids accepts warm winter coats that are gently used, good quality, and all sizes (especially XL adults and infant/pre-K sizes). The drive does not accept coats with rips, tears, broken zippers, or permanent stains, nor can we accept sweatshirts, vests and spring coats.

Sponsored by Anton’s Cleaners, Jordan’s Furniture and Enterprise Bank, the drive kicked off September 28 and runs through January 10, 2020.

In 2018, the organization reached its goal of collecting and distributing one million coats since the program began in 1995… 1,112,122, to be exact.

“It goes without saying that this year has been challenging for all of us, but families in need are hit especially hard as cold weather hits and the kids need new winter coats,” said Arthur Anton Jr., COO of Anton’s Cleaners and founder of the program. “Everyone needs a warm winter coat, and Caring Partners’ mission is still to provide a coat to anyone who needs one. Once our legion of collection partners rises and meets the need by collecting the coats, Anton’s is proud to provide cleaning and sanitizing services and then make sure these clean coats get to those who need them through our network of distribution partners. Working together, we can and WILL make this winter a bit warmer for babies, children and adults once again.”

To get started, an organization simply appoints a Coats for Kids leader, who registers on the antons.com/cfk website.

The leader simply uses the flyer and tools provided to spread the word and collect as many warm winter coats as possible.

A drive can last a day, a week, a month or the entirety of our coat drive (September 28 – January 10) but early coat drives are appreciated as the temperature drops quickly.

Simply drop collected coats off in a bag to any one of 40 Anton’s Cleaners, six Jordan’s Furniture stores, or 23 Enterprise Bank branches.

Coats are distributed through distribution partners made up of major local nonprofit and social service agencies such as Massachusetts Community Action Programs, Salvation Army, Middlesex Human Service Agency, Women’s Lunch Place, BU Medical Center Outreach Van Project, and many more.
