FRAMINGHAM – Joan Ann Cella, 83, a long-time resident of Framingham, passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 3, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joan was born in Mount Kisco, New York on November 29, 1936. She was the daughter of the late John and Helen Chisholm; beloved wife of William for 47 years; loving mother to Vicki VanSant of Watertown, Karen Moores and her husband Bill of Bellingham, Carol Cella of Framingham and Michael Cella of Prague, Czech Republic; cherished grandmother, affectionately known as Granni, to Shanna Moores and Matthew Gaskin.

Joan worked as a switchboard operator supervisor at TJX for many years. She was an avid gardener who loved tending to her beautiful flower garden. She enjoyed traveling with her husband William, whether it was a trip along the East Coast, around New England or heading to play the slots at her favorite casino. She also loved walking along the beach, Ogunquit being one of her favorites. Joan loved spending time with her family, helping to make wonderful memories of birthday and holiday gatherings. She will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved her.

Joan’s family will honor and remember her life privately.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Joan’s memory to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements by the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home of Framingham.
