FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham Public Health Department announced today, August 7, that Learned Pond on Lower Shawmut Terrace will be closed to swimmers due to elevated bacteria counts for the remainder of the season.

Signs have been posted at the beach to alert the public about the closure.

The other two beaches Washakum Beach on Nipmuc Road and Saxonville Beach on Lake Road are unaffected and remain open to the public from 10 am. to 5 p.m. through the end of the season on August 9.

The City’s beaches close for the season this weekend. It is earlier that in previous seasons.

The City’s beaches for the first time in more than a decade were FREE this season, thanks to a vote by the City Council.
