WASHINGTON DC – The number of coronavirus cases worldwide surpassed 5 million, today, May 21.

John Hopkins University is reporting more than 5.04 million cases.

The United States has more than 1.552 million coronavirus cases as of 4 p.m. today.

Russia is second with 317,554 cases and Brazil is third with 291,579.

The United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany, Turkey, Iran and India round out the top 10 countries.

Canada is 13th with 81,617 cases and Mexico 15th with 56,594 COVID-19 cases.

The Centers for Disease Control is reporting 91,664 deaths as of noon, May 21.

The U.S. is leading the world in COVID-19 deaths, with more than 28,600 deaths in New York.

In comparison, the United States has almost 3 times the number of deaths as Italy, recorded at 31,908 deaths.
