BOSTON – Mayor Marty Walsh was asked about the 2020 Boston Marathon today, May 19, during a press conference.

“We had hoped COVID-19 would be less of an issue by then, but we don’t have an update on Marathon right now,” said Mayor Walsh.

The 2020 Boston Marathon was moved from Patriots Day in April to Monday, Sept. 14 due to the coronavirus pandemic earlier this spring.

“We are continuing to have conversations with BAA (Boston Athletic Association) on best way to move forward,” he said this afternoon.

The marathon begins in Hopkinton, and runs through Ashland, Framingham, & Natick.
