BOSTON – The day after the Baker-Polito Administration started the re-opening of the state, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 873 new cases of the virus on Tuesday, May 19.

Massachusetts now has a total of 87,925 positive coronavirus cases as of today.

There is no cure and no vaccine for COVID-19, at this time.

Massachusetts ranks fourth in the United States behind New York, New Jersey & Illinois for the most positive cases.

The state is reporting 76 deaths. Since the pandemic began Massachusetts has reported 5,938 COVID-19 or complications from the virus deaths.

The state tested 7,741 individuals in the last 24 hours

As of May 18, the state has tested more 476,940 individuals.

Middlesex County has the most positive cases at 19,504.

In comparison, Berkshire County has 497 cases, and Barnstable County on Cape Cod has 1,177 cases.

Framingham has the most cases in MetroWest. 

The City of Framingham is also among the top 20 communities with coronavirus cases in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The entire State of Maine has a little more 1,600 cases of the virus. and the City of Framingham has just over 1,450 cases.

There are more than 4.8 million cases worldwide of the virus of 4 p.m. today

The United States has more than 1.52 million coronavirus cases as of 4 p.m. today.

The Centers for Disease Control is reporting 89,407 deaths as of noon, May 18.

The U.S. is leading the world in COVID-19 deaths, with more than 28,400 deaths in New York.

In comparison, the United States has almost 3 times the number of deaths as Italy, recorded at 31,908 deaths.
