Massachusetts: 1,000 New COVID-19 Cases & 86 Fatalities Due To Virus

BOSTON – The Commonwealth of Massachusetts announced today exactly 1,000 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in the last 24 hours.

The State also announced 86 individuals have died from the virus, bringing the total of deaths from the coronavirus to 4,090, as of May 4.

There is no cure and no vaccine for COVID-19, at this time.

Last week, Governor Charlie Baker issued an order to require a face covering starting May 6. Click here to read the order.

Since 2020, the state has had 69,087 confirmed positive cases of the coronavirus.

Massachusetts now has more positive coronavirus cases than the entire country of Ireland, Sweeden & Mexico combined.

Massachusetts ranks third in the Umited States behind New York,a nd New Jersey for the most positive cases.

Last week, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker extended the order to keep non-essential businesses closed through May 18.

As of today at 4 p.m., the state has tested 324,268 individuals.

The state tested 9,622 individuals in the last 24 hours

Two weeks ago, the number of COVID-19 cases hospitalized was at 9%. A good sign is the number has been 5% over the weekend and again today, May 4.

Another good sign, the number of individuals in ICUs in the state is under 1,000 for the first time in weeks for the last four days.

Middlesex County has the most positive cases at 15,757.

In comparison Barnsatble County has 961 cases.

The United States now has the most confirmed cases worldwide 1.172 million cases as of 4 p.m. May 4.

Worldwide, there are more than 3.562 million confirmed cases.

The Centers for Disease Control is reporting 67,456 deaths as of noon, May 4.

The U.S. is leading the world in COVID-19 deaths, with more than 19,000 deaths in New York.
