FRAMINGHAM – Downtown Framingham, Inc.’s Meals for Medics campaign will have delivered 650 meals from 19 small restaurants in the downtown Framingham area by Saturday, May 2.

The fundraising campaign was launched on Tuesday, March 31, and quick donations helped meal deliveries start on Thursday, April 2 to MetroWest Medical Center facilities in Framingham and Natick.

Steady donations have totaled near $7,000 on the GoFundMe site with contributions from 142 donors along with full shift sponsors, including Panza Shoes, United Way of Tri-County, IBIS Consulting Group, Crossroads Community Church (twice), and United Church of Christ.

“This program has been great for my business during these tough times. Workers from the nearby hospital have learned more about Franklin St. Café and have begun ordering even more, which has been really helpful for my service staff,” said Anderson Torres, owner of Franklin St. Café.

The longevity of this positive campaign, which aims to support five shifts (25 meals per shift) each week, has forged a tighter sense of community between small businesses and the MetroWest Medical Center hospital family.

Andrew Harding, CEO of the MetroWest Medical Center, provided a heartfelt thank you letter that included signatures of top hospital staff on April 11, 2020.
