BOSTON – Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has signed legislation to allow the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to modify or waive MCAS tests for the 2019-2020 school year and to waive the competency determination requirements related to high school graduation.

“The Senate remains steadfast in its approach to offering relief to students, families and all sectors of our Commonwealth as we continue adjust to the challenges caused by COVID-19,” said Senate President Karen E. Spilka (D – Ashland), in announcing the legislation had passed the Massachusetts Senate and House.
