FRAMINGHAM – MetroWest Medical Center proudly announces its “Daisy Award” recipient as Brendan Tibbert, RN.

MetroWest Medical Center leadership organized the surprise award celebration and ceremony where some of Brendan’s colleagues joined to recognize him with this honorable national recognition.

Brendan Tibbert is a registered nurse in the endoscopy unit and is highly regarded by both patients and co-workers.

One patient’s family member stated, “My husband is a combat war Vet (Vietnam-Khe Sahn.) Brendan set him at ease immediately. I thanked Brendan for his kindness to my husband, but I could see I didn’t need to do so. He automatically is kind and caring to patients. It is no effort to him, so he needs no praise. It is just who Brendan is. He always knew what to do or say!”

The DAISY (acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation was formed in November 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died of an autoimmune disease at the age of 33.

The Barnes family were deeply touched by the kind and compassionate nursing care Patrick received throughout his many hospitalizations and established the DAISY award in Patrick’s honor and memory.  Nurses are nominated by patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.

A committee reviews the nominations to identify who will be the DAISY recipient.
