FRAMINGHAM – This week, six new recruits started at with the Framingham Fire Department.

They are considered FFOP’s (firefighters On Probation) and currently assigned to the training division, said Framingham Assistant Fire Chief John Schultz.

All are Framingham residents.

The new firefighters are Michael Smith, Tyler Demmons, James Corcoran, Ian Commerford, Martin Garvey, and Alec Guertin.

Yesterday they were sworn in by City Clerk Lisa Ferguson.

Today, February 14, there were working on SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) familiarization, and intro to aerial Ladders, said Assistant Chief Schultz.

Deputy Chief Sullivan, also an instructor at the Mass Fire Academy,  is in charge with getting them ready, said Assistant Chief Schultz.
