FRAMINGHAM – Delfina Nieves, age 82, sadly passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 24, 2022.
Born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico in 1940, to the late Eugenio Flores and Enriqueta Morales.
She was the loving wife of Juan Nieves, the love of her life, for 26 years.
Delfina lived in Framingham most of her life working at Raytheon, Wonder Bread, and at the Callahan Senior Center for the Hispanic Community.
She received an achievement award for her participation in implementing the opening of the Hispanic program at the Callahan Senior Center.
She then left New England for sunnier skies in Florida where she lived for many many years.
She was an avid lover of Disney World where she worked for over 22 years. She recently retired at the ripe age of 80 and moved back to Framingham.
Delfina loved helping her community throughout her time in Framingham, she was a 2nd mom to many and continued with her kind-hearted spirit with her neighbors in Florida. She loved to cook, dance, and travel all while working multiple jobs throughout her life. If you had the pleasure of meeting her, she would call you “Belleza del siglo” – a sign of affection. She would also have the routine saying of “Don’t call me when I die because I can’t answer you” – A message to many people who would forget to call her. Delfina was the sweetest person who touched all those she met with her easy smile and welcoming generous ways. She was very encouraging to her family members by pushing them to be independent and successful individuals and to pursue their dreams. Her resilient work ethic was an example for all of us to lead by and will be remembered every day of our lives. This is a time for us all to remember her never ending smiles, her cheeky laugh, and her cheerful loving ways along with all those special moments that we shared with her. May she dance in paradise with her Juany!
Delfina is preceded in death her sister Nilda Flores.
Delfina is survived by her beloved children Barbara “Susy” Rivera, Jamie Figueroa, Jose Dominguez, and Markee Pagan. Adored sisters Josefina Nieves and Carmen Rosa Flores.
