FRAMINGHAM – The Learning Center for the Deaf has welcomed Lia Angeli as Director of its Communications and Access Services (CAS).
The CAS Director is responsible for overseeing the quality and integrity of TLC’s interpreting services and community ASL classes.
Angeli joins TLC with a diverse background in interpreting, business and leadership.
Since 2008, she has owned and operated HandsUp Interpreting; a multiservice agency that coordinates interpreting services in a variety of settings such as medical, mental health, employment support, and government agencies.
Angeli brings more than 15 years of professional interpreting experience, including most recently at the Defense Logistics Agency and Department of the Treasury in Virginia.

Growing up immersed in Deaf culture and using American Sign Language, her brother, uncle, and two sister-in-laws are Deaf. She also attended various Deaf camps.
The ASL and Deaf interpreting services are offered in a variety of settings, including education, medical, business and therapeutic. The Interpreters work across Massachusetts while maintaining local or national credentials and/or certification.
The Community ASL Classes provide immersive, informal classes for the broader community to learn, enrich and enhance their ASL. Taught by Deaf instructors, our classes provide a rich and engaging environment for entry-level learners. Customized courses are also offered for distinct groups when applicable.
TLC’s Communication and Access Services also provides information regarding the Deaf Community, how to work with interpreters, and how to make communication more accessible.
